Two Faculty Positions
Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science at Ryerson University invites applications for two (2) full-time tenure-track positions in Financial Mathematics at the Assistant Professor level, commencing on July 1, 2017, subject to final budgetary approval. Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field by the time of appointment. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to upholding the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities.

The focus of these positions is to support our newly created Undergraduate Program in Financial Mathematics as well as our MSc and PhD programs. The candidates will be expected to take leadership roles in the new program, attracting and expanding productive relations with the financial/insurance industry nationwide, being at the forefront of outreach into the financial industry. We encourage applications from junior to experienced researchers/professionals in the field of financial mathematics. Evidence of a significant international standing, outstanding research, grant funding, research supervision or industrial experience will be crucial assets.

The successful candidates will hold a PhD or international equivalent in Mathematics or Statistics with postdoctoral or industrial experience; must demonstrate excellence in research; as well as evidence of high-quality graduate and undergraduate teaching and student training. Experience and interest in collaborating with industry, and the ability to involve students in industrial research will be considered an asset.
