Tenure-Track Position in Big Data/Data Science



The Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan invite applications for a joint tenure-track position in the area of Big Data/Data Science at the Assistant Professor level effective July 1, 2017.


Applicants for this joint tenure track-position should have a PhD. Candidates will have demonstrated excellence or show promise of excellence in teaching and graduate supervision, and will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally-funded research program that complements the research programs of the two departments, and to teach in both units. The College of Arts and Science offers a dynamic combination of programs in the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts.  There are over 10,000 students in the College, and 295 faculty, including 12 Canada Research Chairs.  The College emphasizes student and faculty research, interdisciplinary programs, community outreach and international opportunities.  The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with the Global Institute for Food Security, the Global Institute for Water Security, and other research centers that generate huge datasets and seek innovative ways to perform effective, large scale analysis.

Salary Bands (July 1, 2016– June 30, 2017):


Assistant Professor    $93,293 (floor) to $112,109 (CDI ceiling)




This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package which includes pension plan, life insurance (compulsory and voluntary), sick leave, travel insurance, death benefit, dental plan, extended health and vision care plan, employee assistance program, and flexible health and wellness spending program.
