Subject: [cmath] Limited-Term Appointment (Applied/Computational Mathematics        and Statistics) - Trent University

Trent University invites applications for a 12-month full-time, limited-term appointment in the Department of Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will start August 15, 2017, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in Applied/Computational Mathematics and Statistics, including the following (tentative):

MATH 1001H (fall term) Precalculus Mathematics
MATH 3160H (fall term) Methods of Applied Mathematics
MATH 1052H-B (winter term) Non-Calculus Statistics II: Elementary Statistical Methods
MATH-COIS 3350H (winter term) Linear Programming

Two more courses at the first-year level will be taught during the summer 2018 term. The position also involves participation in the supervision of undergraduate Honours Projects.

In general, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a willingness to develop challenging and innovative approaches to teaching, as well as an ability to work closely with colleagues and students. Applicants should have a Ph.D in the Mathematical Sciences, undergraduate teaching experience, and an active research program.
