  • Preparation of review article for Annual Review of Psychology (2008). SSHRC Small Grant ($10,000). Co-Investigator.
  • Argue to learn: Representing and supporting argumentation with cognitive tools (2007-2010). SSHRC Standard Research Grant ($176,645). As principle investigator I collaborate with graduate students to investigate the learning effects of argumentation and tools supporting argumentation.
  • Metacognitive tools for developing and evaluating portfolios (2006 – 2007).
    Canadian Council on Learning ($70,000). Co-Investigator.
  • The Learning Kit: Theory and Cognitive Tools to Enhance Learning Skills (2003-2007). SSHRC INE ($3 million). The project advanced the theory and practice of self-regulated learning by creating, evaluating and deploying in research, a software application implementing a suite of cognitive tools. As co-investigator I contributed to the design of gStudy software and log analysis software, and conducted research using the sofware.
  • eduSourceCanada (2002-2004) CANARIE Inc. ($4.25 million). The project assembled a national consortium of learning institutions, universities and private sector partners, who created the first pan-Canadian bilingual testbed of linked interoperable learning object repositories. My contribution as collaborator was to develop eLera, a web-based node on the network supporting learning object assessment practices.
  • POOL: Portal for Online Objects in Learning (2000-2002) CANARIE Inc. ($1.5 million).The project developed a peer-to-peer architecture to support local management of learning objects. My contribution as collaborator was to develop an online tool for collaborative assessment of learning objects.
