t2... a telematic dance performance (2008) by Henry Daniel
"Telematics is the use of computers in concert with telecommunication systems. Telepresence technology allows a person to feel as if they are present in a location different to the one that they currently are in. t2 explores these two terms in a conceptual manner, drawing on notions of time, space, place and identity. The work links the Scotia Bank Dance Centre with the Interurban Gallery on the Downtown Eastside through the Internet." -Henry Daniel
t2 began as a remounting of Touched (2008) for Dancing on the Edge. The original music in Touched was composed by Adam Basanta. As t2 evolved and mutated, a new score had to be drawn up, collecting fragments from the previous work, as occurred similarly in the choreography and media design by Sammy Chien.
The resultant musical work is a collaboration between Basanta and myself, with Neelamjit Dhillon performing Tabla and myself performing live electroacoustics.
