Time average seems to have a greater value than average when measuring end to end delay for the packet switching tutorial. To me, it looks like average is a running average from the very start while time average is only an average about a certain point. But time average still looks like it approaches a steady state over time. Hope you can help. Hope this helps, thank you. -- Hock S. I don't see an option "average", but I do see "sample mean" and "time average". The basic difference is the denominator you're using to compute the statistic value. Let's say that you have 3 samples in your statistical bucket, you can divide by 3 to get a sample mean or divide by the duration of the bucket, e.g. 2 seconds to get a time average. You can find some information in our product documentation under "OPNET Editors Reference->Project Editor->Pop-Up Menu Operations->Change Collectino Mode". I copied an excerpt below: You can also look at FAQs 537 & 723 at http://www.opnet.com/support/FAQ_Search ------------------------ If using bucket mode (the default), you can also specify how to generate a result from each bucket of data. The options on the Bucket mode pull-down menu are: max value:The maximum of all the values collected for that bucket period. min value:The minimum of all the values collected for that bucket period. sum:The sum of all the values collected for that bucket period. count:The total number of values collected for that bucket period. sample mean:The average of all the values collected for that bucket period. time average:The average value where the values that are averaged are weighted according to their duration (where duration is the time between the current value and the next value). sum / time:The sum of all the values of points within a particular bucket, divided by the time duration of the bucket. summary:The sample mean, the minimum/maximum values, and the standard deviation. Each of these values is graphed separately. ------------------------- Let us know if it is still unclear. -- Damien D. As the result Firefox looks locally for the path and obviously doesn't find it. I closed the Firefox and problem went away. I verified that I am using version 14.0 tutorials. I couldn't reproduce the <<>> on the console, but keep an eye on it. One last question I still have is: OPNET Help -> What's new in 11.0 which I don't know is normal in OPNET version 14.0 Thanks for you your support, Reza. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear James, I tried to open OPNET -> Help -> Tuturials tonight but I received this error messages in Firefox: File Not Found Firefox can't find the file at //ensc/local2/opnet/14.0.A/doc/modeler/wwhelp/wwhimpl/api.htm?context=mdlr_tut&topic=mdlr_tut_entry&tab=contents. * Could the item have been renamed, removed, or relocated? * Is there a spelling, capitalization, or other typographical error in the address? * Do you have sufficient access permissions to the requested item? I also received the following Warning/error in console running OPNET payette 31: /ensc/grad1/mrs16/op_admin> opnet & [1] 6492 payette 32: /ensc/grad1/mrs16/op_admin> <<< Warning >>> * Time: 00:11:52 Thu Jan 29 2009 * Product: Generic Product * Package: Vos (Virtual Operating System) / Env (Environment Variable) * Function: Vos_Env_Std_Sources * Error: NOTE: There is a file named env_db14.0 in current working directory, but now using /ensc/grad1/mrs16/op_admin/env_db14.0 for env_db. Also on the window title of OPNET is: OPNET Modeler 14.0 -- Educational Version ... but when I click on Help, the second item says: What's new in 11.0 Is that normal? I used to work with the tutorials two nights ago and haven't changed any setting. I should mention that I am not sure that I was looking at version 14.0 tutorials though. The VNC ports begin at 5900 by default and port 6000 is occupied by X11. So, it has only 100 ports. Try specifying alternate VNC ports like 405 explicitly instead of default 5900 (run command vncserver:405) and try using vnc client. Another option is try to run "vncsever" command in payette.ensc.sfu.ca see whether you get the same message. ... After login to dogwood.css.sfu.ca, I tried to set up vnc viewer connection to ssh tunnel. However, when I tried run "vncserver" command, it returns message "no free display number on dogwood". Do it means that I have to wait until there is free display number on dogwood? Thank you, Mincong Luo ******************************************************************************
