Summary
The Egress Queue Manager was successfully used in two Ethernet port controller chip designs.
Three queuing modes for class of service:
- Strict Priority Scheduling for IEEE 802.1p.
- Weighted Fair Scheduling: A variation on CBFQ with simpler hardware requirements.
- Weighted Priority Scheduling: A novel hybrid approach for priority queuing with starvation prevention.
Achieved a small hardware based design with low request (QA) to grant (QF) latency.
