Accomodation
Information
A
block of 20 rooms has been set aside at the Fairmont
Waterfront hotel at the conference rate of CAD 115/night + taxes. To receive
this rate you must book before August x, 2005. To reserve a room phone xxx.xxx.xxxx
and ask for a room at the SFU Early Modern Philosophy conference
rate. The hotel is a five minute walk from SFU Harbour Centre.
It is strongly recommended that you book by the deadline, as the conference happens to fall right in the middle of the Vancouver International Film Festival. Once the VIFF program is announced in early September it may well prove hard to book at room anywhere in the city at such a reasonable rate.
Some
other lower cost options for lodging include:
The Sylvia Hotel (about a 45 min
walk (a pleasant walk) to SFU Harbour Centre, with a great view of English
Bay and near Stanley Park)
YWCA Hotel (about a 10 minute walk
to SFU Harbour Centre, at the edge of downtown near the stadiums)
Transportation from the airport is very easy. A taxi to downtown should cost CAD 25-30 and takes about 20 minutes. There is also an airport bus (Airporter) that stops at downtown hotels.
