Grading:  The midterm examination will count for 1/3 of the
course grade, and the final examination for 2/3, with the
exception that if a student's final examination grade is
higher relative to the mean for the examination than was the
case for the midterm grade, the course grade will be based
on the final examination grade only.  Both exams will be
short-answer essay in format.
