Stat 302 Homework Grading and Philosophy

Homework

There will be a total of five homework assignments. The best four of these are given equal weight and account for 20% of your final grade. See the grading policy for a description of the weight given to the midterm and final.

The tentative dates associated with each homework are as follows:
Number Date Assigned Date Due
1 Sep. 12 Sep. 26
2 Sep. 26 Oct. 12
3 Oct. 12 Oct. 24
4 Oct. 31 Nov. 14
5 Nov. 14 Nov. 28
Assignments should be left in the Stat 302 drop boxes outside the Statistics Lab, K 9510. (Please note: although lost assignments are rare, if you are concerned about loosing your homework in the drop-box system, please make a copy before you it hand in.) Graded assignments may be picked up in the lab from the TA's on duty. See the schedule posted outside the lab for hours of operation.

Homework is supposed to be cooperative and most will be done collectively in home-groups. You should try as many exercises as you can, but it does not help to get stuck on a problem. If you get stuck, share your ideas about it with your home-group members. If your group as a whole is stuck, post a question to the class caucus. I will always answer questions I see on the caucus, as long as you show you have thought about it.
