I am now working on the Greenest City Conversation Project under the supervision of Prof. Lyn Bartram at the School of Interactive Art and Technology (SIAT), SFU and Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES), UBC .  This project is in the context of Greenest City by 2020 project.

Introduction

This project is aimed at testing multiple channels for public engagement on sustainability policies. The two goals are:

(1) to facilitate discussion, solicit and analyze public attitudes and opinions on, and support for, a variety of sustainability policies; and
(2) to provide a comprehensive understanding of the content and impacts (both qualitative and quantitative) of different modes of public engagement ("channels")

GCCP will engage citizens in 5 channels, linked to City of Vancouver’s GC2020 goals and their public engagement campaign around these goals: workshops, mobile applications, online (Facebook-based) events and social media, tabletop games/kiosks, and performance art. It will focus on 3 Greenest City goals are mobility, climate change and buildings. 7 categories of evaluation are (1) appeal, (2) dialogicality, (3) persistence, (4) impact, (5) depth/commitment, as well as (6) views and (7) positions on GC2020.

Our research interest is on "online (Facebook-based) events and social media" channel and tracking social media use for the Greenest City Conversation Project.
