Cultural Studies: Imagining Technoculture
Presentation Description

Oral Presentation 20%

The oral component of the course includes reading preparation, attendance, contributions to seminar discussion and a presentation.  There will be occasional in-class writing or group discussion exercises.

For oral presentations you will be expected to research your topic and provide the class with a one-page typed outline.  Presentations should make critical use of two library sources; sources consulted during research must be documented and included in the outline.

Aimto stimulate discussion by focussing class attention on an important theme or aspect of the text and by analyzing the topic in terms of the technocultural focus of the course.  You should strive for the following:

summarize your argument’s main points succinctly and clearly

address specific issues of style, structure, and main themes in the text as they are relevant to your topic

relate the topic as manifest in this text to other authors or themes of the course

  Outline:

  1 page

   point form

includes main points that you want to raise about the topic

comment on library sources (and/or web, if applicable)

  documentation of research sources

Some presentations will necessitate use of the web.  But many will not.  Should your presentation incorporate web resources, these must also be documented on your outline and submitted to me in advance.  Web resources will be added, in advance to your presentation, to our class web site.
