Dear Chancellor Kohl,
You are a great world leader. The awesome strides you have made for
your mighty nation are an inspiration to everyone. To take a nation, divided
by war and suffering, split between two contradictory systems and reunite it
into greatness once again is one of the most stupendous political feats of
this century. All right thinking people congratulate you - count on it!
Chancellor Kohl, I see in the news that you've been having your share of
angst due to the foolish actions of the labour unions. First the public
service and then the engineering trades walk out on strike. These people are
the enemies of freedom. They cry for rights and justice yet deny the rights
of all good Germans who want to work. Don't these trouble-makers realize that
the unity of all Germans is needed to build the nation and assert its
dominance in the highly competitive international market? We've got our
problems with unions here in Canada as well. I'm sure that you and our great
Prime Minister Mulroney compare notes on such matters whenever you get
together at those G7 summits. It is heartening to know that sober,
conservative, pro-capitalist men are running things in the world's most
powerful and productive nations. Don't let the unions, the Social Democrats
and those ridiculous Greens get to you. Hang in there and do what is right
for Germany and the world!
I am of Polish descent, so I was very concerned that relations between
Germany and Poland would be cordial when East and West united. But true to
your greatness you set aside the lingering fears of this century and
immediately guaranteed the existing boundaries in the heart of Europe. Way to
go! Well, as you can tell by now I am quite an admirer of yours. Please send
me your official autographed photograph for my collection of great world
leaders. It would be a real honour - you bet! Thank you for your
consideration and for your exemplary service to your nation and the entire
free world.
