Dear General Schwartzkopf,
I saw your interview with Barbara Walters recently and was
tremendously impressed. You are so humble. I am one of those
who believe without a doubt that you are a hero. But now I
realize that, yes, it's the soldiers in the field that are the
real heroes - you bet! What I want to say to you, General
Schwarzkopf, is thank-you for your fine service to the free
world. I was so proud to see the American and Canadian military
standing together again as we did in World War I, World War II
and the Korean War. Both our nations have an honourable military
history and many noble achievements. I am glad that our great
Prime Minister Brian Mulroney committed us to this cause against
that damn Saddam Hussein. Have you ever had the pleasure of
meeting Mr. Mulroney? I hope you get invited up here for a
parade or something. Will you be planning a book and a lecture
tour? I hope you come to Vancouver - it's beautiful here if
you've never been.
Those Iraqis better watch it! It was good to see that you
wasted no time in downing that jet fighter of theirs the other
day. "Don't give us a reason!" as Hank Williams, Jr. would say.
I'm sorry I have nothing to send you like others have done, only
my best wishes and my 100% support - count on it! I would like
to get an official photograph of you, though. I have a
collection of photos of great world leaders and I want yours to
be part of it. Can you accommodate me? I hope so.
Again, thank-you for your efforts and exemplary leadership.
Stay on your toes - that Saddam is a sneaky one!
Long live free Kuwait!
God bless America!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!
Sincerely,
Vincent G. Krako
