Welcome to the

Hawkins Lab

Asymmetric cell division, the process by which a mother cell divides to generate two daughter cells that adopt distinct cell fates, is essential to generate cellular diversity in multicellular organisms.   The Hawkins lab is specifically interested in studying asymmetrically localized proteins and cell signaling pathways to elucidate the mechanisms underlying asymmetric neuroblast division in the nematode C. elegans.
