Hi Everyone,
As you know, each Fall, NSERC schedules general information sessions with university researchers across Canada in preparation for the forthcoming Discovery Grants competition. Below are the details for NSERC's meeting with SFU faculty members. The meeting is scheduled, as follows.
DATE: TUESDAY, 29 SEP 2009
TIME: 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm
LOCATION: IRMACS Theatre (ASB 10900)
PRESENTORS: Sandra O'Connor, Programs Officer, NSERC and an SFU faculty member (TBA) who is a GSC member will co-present at the meeting.
Since NSERC changed their review model for the Discover Grants competition, attending this meeting is essential for any faculty members who plan to apply to the Fall 2009 NSERC Discovery Grants programme. In preparation for the meeting, please see the Addendum to NSERC's Peer Review Manual located at http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/_doc/Reviewers-Examinateurs/DG-SD_eng.pdf. As NSERC states,
"This document cancels and replaces Section 6 of the Peer Review Manual posted on the NSERC Web site in October 2008. It combines the information and documents provided to Grant Selection Committees regarding the new procedures to be used for the review of Discovery Grant applications in the 2009 competition, and this, further to the recommendations from the International Review of Discovery Grants and the Grant Selection Committee Structure Review recently approved by Council."
At the end of NSERC's Addendum is a link to NSERC's new Rating Scale which will used by each GSC in their review of each Discovery Grant application.
