Please note that all applications/proposals/letters of intent must be approved by Research Services using an SFU Research Funding Application Signature Sheet prior to their submission. This form can be found on the web at: http://www.sfu.ca/ors/sig.html and must accompany a copy of the application for ORS records when seeking University approval. Applicants are strongly advised to allow sufficient lead-time for the proper consideration at each level.

Worldwide efforts have reduced the number of polio cases by 99 percent in the last two decades.  Until we reach eradication, however, we are continuing research to accelerate the eradication of polio and to inform long-term policy on poliovirus in the post-eradication era. The Polio Research Committee (PRC) identifies unmet research needs, directs research, and assists in identifying investigators and designing studies to answer unanswered research questions in the fight to end polio.  

 

The PRC is currently soliciting research proposals with particular focus on the following:

1)  Understanding mucosal immunity in India
2)  Addressing low vaccine coverage in Nigeria

Researchers are invited to submit proposals by 30 March 2010.  Proposals will be reviewed at the next PRC meeting, to be held in May 2010 in Geneva, Switzerland.
