FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES: MITACS: i) Networking Proposals; ii) Accelerate Internship Programme

The Office of Research Services (ORS) is forwarding the following MITACS information to all list members.

Please note that all applications/proposals/letters of intent, etc., must be approved by Research Services using an SFU Research Funding Application Signature Sheet prior to their submission. This form can be found on the web http://www.sfu.ca/ors/sig.html and must accompany a copy of the applications/proposals/letters of intent, etc., for ORS records when seeking University approval.  Applicants are strongly advised to allow sufficient lead-time for the proper consideration at each level.

MITACS is funded by the federal Networks of Centres of Excellence Program (NCE) for research, networking and training in the mathematical sciences and also through other federal and provincial agencies and departments for programs available to researchers in all academic disciplines. 

 

Networking Proposals

• Funding available for workshops, conferences, and similar events in the mathematical sciences. In addition, in some provinces, MITACS has funding for Hot Topic Workshops in any academic discipline that target a provincial priority area.  In BC, these priorities include, but are not limited to: life sciences, technology, clean technology, natural resources, Pacific studies, and First Nations.
• The goal of these events would be to build research links between universities and departments
• Deadlines are 30 APR 2010 and 10 SEPT 2010

 

MITACS Accelerate Internship

• Provides a research grant of a minimum of $15,000 to a faculty member in any discipline for a four-month research project involving a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow and a partner company (which contributes $7,500 of the total award with MITACS providing matching funds)
• 4 month project units can be combined into longer projects
• Proposals are accepted at any time

are available to assist SFU researchers to obtain research funding. These individuals have extensive knowledge concerning funding sources and successful grant writing skills.  NOTE:  Applicants are strongly advised to allow sufficient lead-time when seeking assistance from a Grants Facilitator.
