January 2017: SFU Lab Safety Training Registration

The Office of Research Services has received the following information which we are forwarding to our e-mail list members:

Hello,

Environmental Health and Research Safety will be conducting laboratory safety training from January 16th - 19th, 2017. Please post and distribute the attached brochure, or forward this email to your respective departments.

The sessions are designed for SFU employees who work in laboratory settings, including paid graduate students, researchers, technicians, teaching assistants, safety committee members and work-term students working at or for SFU. These sessions are also strongly recommended for undergraduate students and volunteers that work in research labs.

Supervisors must ensure that workers under their supervision are instructed in safe laboratory practices and are made aware that this training is available. Sessions with direct applicability to the registrant's work environment are mandatory. All remaining sessions, if any, are optional.

Certificates will be issued indicating the sessions attended. Participants more than 10 minutes late will be able to take part in the training session but will NOT receive credit.

Registration is from Dec 16th, 2016, 9:00 am to Jan 12th, 2017, 12:00 pm (noon). To register, go to http://webform.sfu.ca/form/ohs.safety.training .
