The ORS internal grant deadline is normally one week or five business days prior to the funding agency deadline. A completed and signed SFU Funding Application Signature Sheet must be sent to ORS prior to the internal deadline.
Meeting the internal deadline gives ORS staff time to review the application for compliance with the funding agency's requirements, for errors or omissions to be caught in the review process, and for you to correct them. There is no need to request an extension to the internal deadline since not meeting it will only result in your application not receiving a final review.
For those applying for a grant in an electronic submission process, the internal deadline is met when ORS has received your application and it has been put into submit mode five business days prior to the agency deadline.
Note: The internal deadline of five business days is consistent with other universities within B.C. and across Canada.
For those requiring a written signature on the funding agency’s application form, the internal deadline is met when ORS has received an electronic copy of the application, including the page that requires institutional signature five business days prior to the agency deadline.
No application should ever be submitted after 9:30 a.m. on the morning of the funding agency’s deadline.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this process, please let us know.
