How Fraser Health and Simon Fraser University are Moving Patient-Oriented Research Forward
Date: February 22, 2017
Research is changing! It’s time to involve patients in everything from setting research priorities and research questions, designing research methods, research governance, participating on research teams and publishing results.
In this café you can find all about how Fraser Health and Simon Fraser University will be promoting and supporting patient-oriented research as the BC SUPPORT Unit Fraser Centre for CIHR’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research.
You will also get a chance to meet the new BC SUPPORT Unit Fraser Centre staff and hear more about their exciting roles.
The BC SUPPORT Unit (the Unit) is a multi-partner organization created to support, streamline and increase patient-oriented research throughout BC.
The Unit defines patient-oriented research as research that engages patients as partners and focuses on patient-identified priorities with the goals of improving patient experiences, health outcomes and the health system.
The Unit is one of several SUPPORT Units established across the country as part of Canada’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) led by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
It is also part of the developing BC Academic Health Science Network (BC AHSN) with the network’s interim board providing governance and oversight.
Please see the BC SUPPORT Unit website for more information:
