March 12, 2012 Meeting! Michael McRae, Elections and more.

Hey pre-meds,

This meeting, we are having our very own Michael McRae give us a little talk about his application process as well as a little show and tell for the med school application for UBC. This is an exciting opportunity to hear from our very own exec who has very recently just had his UBC med school interview about the entire process in detail and to get an understanding on how to prepare for the most interesting interveiw that you will probably ever have to take.

After the meeting we will also be having elections for executive positions for the Fall 2013 semester. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to apply! We ask that you prepare a short, informal summary (~1 min) about why you are running for that position, and what you can bring to the club. All positions, except co-chair and events coordinator, last for 1 semester. As well, all executives will possibly be eligible for 50% off a Kaplan course if having met certain club criteria.

Here are the available executive positions:

1. Co-Chair - must have been part of the executive team for 1 semester prior to applying; a 2 semester position
2. Webmaster - updates the website for the club
3. Treasurer - In charge of club funds
4. Secretary - Communication with members through emails and answers any related club questions
5. Public Relations - Supplying thank you gifts to guest speakers, ensure getting the word out to the public about our club.
6. Events Coordinator - a 2 semester position with 2 positions available - create fundraising events for the club and help out with sandwich run, clubs days and any related events related to the club

If you plan on applying for one or more positions, please let us know by emailing me ahead of time.
All club members can vote, so everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. Come out and support your friends!

Thanks,
Thomas Domingo
Treasurer & Secretary
