Majid Al-Suwaidi

As an international student from the United Arab Emirates, studying Quaternary Geology in British Columbia presents a fascinating detour from the geology of my home country and the arid environments I am accustomed too. I read for my undergraduate degree at Brunel University, in London U.K, where I received a B.Sc. in Earth Science, and developed my passion for geology.

I am specifically interested in the study of uplifted marine caves, and the unique opportunity they provide in the quest to unlock the secrets of the glacial history of British Columbia. My work area is on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, where I have recently been collecting data. Along with Dr. Brent Ward, I am hoping to apply a technique, which has been used in Norway with a great deal of success. The stratigraphic record stored within these marine caves provides an invaluable tool in looking at the glacial period in B.C.
