Background:

I graduated in Zoology from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. My general research interest is in vector biology. I studied the biology, distribution and larval control of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus with botanicals in Bangladesh and their relation to the outbreak of Dengue fever. For the last three years I am working on the distribution of the Anopheles mosquitoes - determining the malaria vector species and the population dynamics of Anopheles and all other species of mosquitoes in different regions of Bangladesh.

I joined Roitberg lab as a new member of the mosquito group.

Current research:

I will look at the effect of larval environment on adult performance. This project involves two questions:

  1. Does different larval environment have different effect on adult survivorship and fecundity?
  2. Does different adult environment change the adult survivorship, fecundity and fertility?

A mathematical model will be used to measure the tradeoffs mortality risks and fecundity of blood feeding as a function of adult quality.
