This house is located on the street bordering the edge of the river, traditionally one of the less affluent neighbourhoods of Cuenca.  It has only one ground-floor interior room (B) for all of the family's activities, opening directly onto the front porch (A).  This porch is very wide and open to the street, allowing, or forcing, the occupants to interact  closely with the life of the street itself.  The zaguan (C) leads along the edge of the property to the rear workyard (D).  A loft (E) appears to be a later addition to the house.
