Abstract

With the popularity of wireless devices and the decline of wired Ethernet connections, the importance of a reliable Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is crucial to the productivity of the school’s faculties and students. In a university environment and with a high number of users, the wide areas along with high concentration in certain areas results in challenges for reliable wireless connection. In this report, we are going to use Network Simulator 2 (ns2) and the 802.11g wireless protocol to simulate these different school environments. Finally, the simulation analysis will be used to determine the optimal configuration for a typical university environment.
