Samantha Franks

I am a doctoral student in the Centre for Wildlife Ecology at Simon Fraser University, Canada. My research interests focus on the behavioural and evolutionary ecology of animal migration. My PhD research investigates the factors influencing variation in migratory behaviour and the evolution of migratory strategies in shorebirds. I am also interested in discovering how events and conditions experienced by migratory animals during certain periods of the annual cycle carry-over to influence condition, survival, or reproductive success at other times of year.

I am a director of WildResearch, a not-for-profit organization which works to identify and develop solutions to conservation issues through a multi-disciplinary approach using research, monitoring, training and public outreach. Check out our Facebook page.
