Summer & Fall 2010
I spent 6 weeks in Nome, Alaska in June and July studying the breeding biology of Western and Semipalmated Sandpipers and Red-necked Phalaropes. Our field team collected data on nest success, banded adult birds, collected blood and feather samples for genetic and stable isotope analyses, sampled invertebrate fauna, and collected information on environmental variables.
In August, I processed feather samples for stable isotope analysis at the Queen's Facility for Isotope Research at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
