Modern Pollen Samples in British Columbia |
|
|
This searchable map shows all the sites within the BCMPD and provides information on the site's biogeoclimatic (BEC) zone and elevation. Site names, locations, BEC zones and elevations are all available by clicking on the pollen grains representing the sites. We will be adding references to published sources later. We are working to determine whether differences exist between soil and lacustrine samples in British Columbia. There is a large body of literature regarding differences, but with regards to building models for climatic reconstruction we are making efforts to understand these differences and how they might affect model construction. Our current climate reconstruction model improves on models using WA-PLS, MAT or Factor Analysis when applied to the BCMPD. Climate variables for the modern sites come from Climate v3.2. NOTE: Some site locations may not be exact. We are making efforts to fix site locations where we notice a discrepancy between the cited Lat/Long and the actual projected location. Legend:
