Re: support for RedHat distributions



Just a short comment about commercial distributions/pricing:

All what I have heard about RedHat's pricing is that it is on a pre CPU
basis. Regardless of whether there is educational pricing or not, this
is totally unacceptable ($50US times the number of CPUs is a huge cost
whatever the number of CPUs is).

SuSE pricing is completely different: I asked them about a campus license
and they reponded with $50. Regardless of whether they really understood
what I wanted, SuSE's license clearly states that you are allowed to
copy the software to as many machines as you want.

I will not discuss here whether RedHat's license policy on a per CPU
basis is legal or not - the idea alone to sell a distribution on a
per CPU basis is ridiculous in my opinion.
