The story of Osiris goes a little something like this...Osiris ruled over vegetation and fertility with his beautiful wife, Isis. All was well until his evil brother, Set, murdered him and locked his body in a chest, casting it out into the river Nile. Isis search for him everywhere she could think until eventually the chest washed on the shore. Just as Isis found the chest, Set stole it back, taking Osiris's body and chopping it up into thousands of little pieces. With even greater hate in his heart, Set hid the pieces of Osiris’s body across Egypt, never to be found again. Determined to get her husband back, Isis sought out all the scattered pieces to put Osiris back together. Seeing this, Ra (god of the sun) sent Thoth (god of wisdom) and Anubis (funerary god) to help Iris reassemble the jigsaw of pieces. After seeing her husband reassembled and his body mummified for burial, Iris couldn't resist but to go in for one final fling. With her touch she breathed life back into Osiris, and he was resurrected. Finding his place alongside Thoth and Maat (goddess of truth and justice), Osiris was appointed as the new judge of the dead, with his green skin as a permanent mark of his resurrection.
