STATISTICAL RESEARCH CONSULTANT
Reporting to the Faculty Supervisor of the Statistical Consulting Centre, and working in a team environment, the Statistical Research Consultant will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and continued development of the Centre at the University of Victoria. Specific responsibilities include: supporting research through statistical advice and assistance; data analysis, software support and development for university faculty, graduate students and external clients; identifying and carrying out collaborative and contract research; identifying research projects; and co-authoring publications.
The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in the Statistical Sciences with several years of closely related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential qualifications include experience with statistical consulting, applied statistical research, data analysis and computing skills (including spreadsheet, database, presentation and statistical software applications and knowledge of a programming language that may be used to manipulate data from large registries, for example C#, C++ or Java); strong communication, supervisory and leadership skills.
SALARY: Salary is commensurate with the applicant's education, qualifications and experience. This is a one year part-time term (.5 FTE) appointment, with the possibility of renewal at half or full-time status.
