Statistics – Assistant Professor Competition : STAT 2011

 
The Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a term appointment for up to 3 years (renewable annually) as an Assistant Professor in Statistics. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Statistics or closely related discipline, have a strong record or demonstrated potential for research, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Individuals with expertise in any area of statistics will be considered, but researchers specializing in modern computational statistics, spatial statistics, environmental and ecological statistics, or modern design of experiments are particularly welcome. The candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and develop an independent research program.
 
The position will be held in Mathematics and Statistics (http://web.ubc.ca/okanagan/math/welcome.html) in the Barber School of Arts and Sciences (http://web.ubc.ca/okanagan/ikbarberschool/welcome.html), which currently has 13 faculty members in Mathematics and Statistics. Graduate studies in Statistics are part of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies program, which offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Current Statistics faculty are interested in building a strong applied program in the Statistical Sciences.
