Biostatistical Consultant

RI-MUHC Biostatistics Core Facility (BCF)

 

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI MUHC) is establishing a Biostatistics Core Facility to provide statistical advice in support of a wide range of health research conducted by investigators throughout the MUHC. The joint missions of the RI MUHC Biostatistics Core Facility are to provide research support to clinical and translational investigators at the MUHC, apply state of the art statistical methodologies and enhance statistical education at the MUHC.

 

We are currently seeking a full time Biostatistical Consultant for the BCF. The Biostatistical Consultant will be responsible for providing RI MUHC investigators with advice and assistance in planning and writing of the statistical aspects of grant applications, preparation of abstracts and manuscripts. Working with the Director of the BCF the consultant will be expected to provide or coordinate onsite lectures and/or short courses on typical methodologies used in research. The successful applicant will have at least an MSc (or MA) in biostatistics/statistics and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a biostatistical consultant. A broad knowledge of modern approaches to statistical methods and theory, an interest in applying these to practical problems, and the ability to work independently are pre-requisites for the position. Applicants must have experience with statistical software, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with database management would be an asset.

 

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Ability to function in both English and French would be an advantage. This is a 3-year renewable contract position.
