Subject: [d-ssc] Postdoctoral Associate in Statistical Ecology at Western University

Dear all,

I am looking to fill a position for a Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) housed in the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Science at Western University. The PDA will work closely with biologists at Western University and the University of Tulsa to develop models of social behaviour based on mark-recapture data and to develop new methodology for modelling data on the movements of neo-tropical migrant birds and other small animals collected from the Motus Wildlife Monitoring Project.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in statistics or in biology/wildlife management with a strong background in quantitative methods. Knowledge of mark-recapture methodology and Bayesian inference; statistical computing in R; strong communication skills; and the ability to work with applied researchers are absolute necessities. Experience programming in other computer languages including BUGS/JAGS, STAN, C, or Fortan and experience with cluster computing would be an asset and an interest in ecology and ornithology is preferred.

The position has a term of 2 years at $50,000 (CAD) per year and is expected to start between September and January 2016.

Complete details are available at www.http://simon.bonners.ca/bonner-lab/wpblog/?page_id=156.

Please e-mail me with any questions regarding this position.
