The Department of Statistics at the University of Auckland is seeking to appoint an excellent and innovative statistics teacher to a teaching-track position with potential for significant career advancement. The position is called “Professional Teaching Fellow” and you would join an extremely talented, diverse and collegial team of Professional Teaching Fellows with backgrounds ranging from PhDs in statistics to stellar teachers from the secondary education sector.
The Department of Statistics at the University of Auckland is the largest statistics department in Australasia, currently employing approximately 50 staff, and is the home of R. It has a very strong international reputation in statistics education for innovation, research and commitment to teaching excellence. You will have a postgraduate degree in statistics or a closely related subject. You will also have superb teaching skills and experience in using statistics in research or consulting. You will be an energetic, highly-organised, team player with leadership potential.
You will be joining the team responsible for the organisation and delivery of first-year courses in statistics. Your duties may also include teaching upper-year courses in the department. You will develop content and materials, investigate novel strategies and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement, support diverse styles of teaching and learning and deliver high-quality course materials.
