The Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) seeks out standing candidates for one position, subject to funding, at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level, with a starting date of July 1, 2018. A PhD or equivalent in mathematics or a related discipline is required; postdoctoral experience is normally expected.
The successful applicant will have outstanding mathematical talent, evidenced by a superior research record. Demonstrated success and high potential are required in both research and teaching.
The priority research area is Topology. Exceptional candidates from existing or emerging areas of research excellence in the department may also be considered. Joint appointments with other UBC departments may be possible.
The successful applicant is expected to do research in an area of interest to current faculty, to interact with related groups in the Department, to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to supervise graduate students. The salary will be commensurate with experience and research record.
