The Mathematics Department at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level starting July 1, 2018. 
The Description

The Mathematics Department is responsible for teaching two Introductory Statistics courses to students from across the University. Multiple sections of these courses and their accompanying labs are offered each term. In addition, the Department offers minors in Statistics and Applied Statistics and has a Statistics stream in the Mathematics major. A number of upper level Statistics courses are offered each year as part of these programs.  The Statistics program is overseen by the Statistics Coordinator. The Coordinator is responsible for the Introductory Statistics course content, creating assignments, lab questions and exams, consulting with other departments about their Statistics needs and other Statistics related tasks. The Coordinator also works with the department Chair on tasks such as scheduling and hiring of support personnel.


Applicants for this position must have a PhD in Statistics. Demonstrated research competency and an active research program is required; it is expected that the successful candidate will apply for NSERC or other relevant research funding. Documented experience and expertise in teaching undergraduate courses in Statistics at all levels and in online course development are assets. 


Workload will include teaching Statistics at all levels, research, and collegial service. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to take on the role of Statistics Coordinator in future years.

The department will begin considering applications on January 8, 2018. All positions remain open until filled. 


Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Agreement with the Mount Saint Vincent University Faculty Association. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
