The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics, focused on Data Science, starting July 1, 2018, at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

The Department seeks candidates actively engaged in research and strongly committed to teaching in Statistics and Data Science. The candidate will be expected to provide leadership for a Master's program in Data Science which is to be launched soon, and to participate in advising and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Requirements:

To be considered, candidates must have a Ph.D. in Statistics or another field closely related to Data Science. Candidates should have a record of research productivity and demonstrated ability to obtain external funding in support of a successful research program.

Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in scientific computing for computational statistics, statistical learning, machine learning, mathematical modelling, and big data. However, expertise in other areas of Data Science or Statistics will be considered.

Applications should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, unofficial transcripts, statements of teaching and research philosophy, and three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the applicant's teaching effectiveness. Applicants are encouraged to supply additional information such as formal teaching evaluation summaries.
