Subject: [cmath] Tenure-Track Instructor Position - University of Calgary


The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, in the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Instructor level, beginning July 1, 2018 or later.

The department is seeking a candidates with a passion for teaching and teaching innovation, as well as an interest and skills to support mathematical outreach to school students and school teachers.

Duties include teaching at the undergraduate level in a variety of mathematics courses, including both junior and senior undergraduate courses, ranging from large service courses in the first year and second year in the calculus, linear algebra and Discrete mathematics, as well as to 3rd and 4th year courses taken by our program majors in the mathematics streams of our undergraduate degrees, particularly in algebra and discrete mathematics. Participation in curriculum development and administrative duties, and active support for our undergraduate program including mentoring and inspiring students in the subject material and undergraduate research is expected. The successful candidate must have a PhD in Mathematics.

A record of teaching excellence, particularly in first year calculus and linear algebra is required. Evidence of teaching excellence is required and may include documentation of teaching awards, contributions to curriculum development, peer evaluation of teaching ability and student feedback on teaching.
