Assistant Professor

Position # 20905 CLTR – The Department of Mathematics and Statistics seeks to fill a 5-month contractually limited position at the rank of Assistant Professor for the fall term of 2018. The successful candidate should preferably hold a PhD in Mathematics or have equivalent education and work experience in mathematics education. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching introductory university mathematics courses.

The Department seeks a dynamic individual, who has a strong commitment to teaching. Duties for the position include teaching three courses in one semester. This will include two sections of introductory algebra and calculus ( Math 1613: General Linear Algebra and Calculus for Business and Economics) and one section of matrix algebra (Math 1323 Matrix Algebra) (multiple sections of Math 1613 at Acadia are taught in coordination with each other, and the successful candidate will also be required to attend regular coordinating meetings. The Department is engaged in a multi-year project to re- design the Math 1613 course around identified course learning objectives and curricular goals in the Economics and Business departments.) The successful applicant will also contribute to the service activities of the Department.
