Faculty Scientist in Cancer Epidemiology and Data Sciences

Applications are invited from candidates with outstanding credentials and an excellent track record of research productivity to join our team of world-class scientists at BC Cancer within the Department of Cancer Control Research (CCR).
CCR has a number of internationally recognised core research programs directed toward the reduction of incidence and mortality from cancer, sustainability of cancer care, and alleviating the burden of suffering from cancer. The Department is home to nationally and internationally recognized scientists in cancer epidemiology, biostatistics, data sciences, health economics, health services research, cancer prevention and survivorship. In addition, CCR has a large core group of research staff engaged in population–based cancer research including etiology, molecular and genetic epidemiology, occupational and environmental risk factors, gene-environment interaction, biostatistics, and machine learning/data sciences.   
Applicants at the Scientist or Senior Scientist (equivalent to a university Assistant or Associate Professor) level are invited to apply.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics or related degree as well as at least 3 years’ experience in research.  Preference will be given to researchers who provide the best fit with CCR’s core mandate, and who have expertise in cancer epidemiology, biostatistics and, or machine learning/data science in cancer.  The applicant will have knowledge of cancer epidemiology as well as cancer research more generally and will actively interact and collaborate with other cancer research scientists at BC Cancer, including world renowned programs such as Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre.
A successful candidate would be expected to obtain a cross appointment at an appropriate rank at either the University of British Columbia or Simon Fraser University.
Key attributes of the successful applicant will include the ability to initiate and sustain a successful internationally recognized research program as indicated by significant contributions to multiple high impact publications, acquisition of peer-reviewed funding from national or international agencies as a principal investigator and as a co-investigator, invited presentations, reviews for journal articles and grants, and strong references by recognized arm’s length authorities in her or his research discipline.
