The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia
is looking to hire a statistician for creating a Statistical Consulting Unit
within the Faculty.  This budget-funded position is an exciting opportunity
to create an independent unit within a thriving academic environment. The
successful candidate will provide consulting services to a diverse group
of scientists and will have the opportunity to be deeply involved in all
aspects of the cutting-edge research conducted within the Faculty. The
statistician will have significant input into the design of experiments as
well as the opportunity to develop new methodologies in a variety of areas,
from bioinformatics to epidemiology and health economics. There is a
significant potential for professional growth, as the successful candidate
will have the opportunity to expand the unit and gradually evolve into a
managerial role.

There is strong support within the Faculty for the growth of the unit and
a core group of investigators will provide support and mentorship for this
position. The unit will have the opportunity of interacting and collaborating
with similar units in other Faculties (e.g., within the UBC Department of
