Statistics, Assistant Professor
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science at York University invites applications for a tenure-track professorial stream appointment in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate
with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Statistics or a related discipline and an outstanding research record (appropriate to their career stage) including sustained and recent publications in high quality peer reviewed journals. Outstanding candidates
in any area of statistics will be considered with particular emphasis on machine learning, high dimensional data analysis, data science and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an excellent and innovative research program
building on the current strengths of the Department, and secure and maintain external peer-reviewed research funding.
The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential
education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
