To the Department Chair or other interested Faculty
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Wichita State University has a need to hire someone as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Statistics for the school year beginning August, 2020. This is officially a 12 month appointment. The reason for the opening
is the phased retirement of one of our full professors and a sabbatical leave for another professor.
The department has every expectation of a full time tenure eligible probationary appointment to become available once the phased retirement is completed.
We seek a person with a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Mathematics with emphasis on Statistics or someone soon to have such a degree. The individual hired should be able to teach undergraduate statistics and mathematics courses and a capability or experience
of teaching a graduate level course in statistics. This would include mathematical statistics, theory of linear models, advanced inference, probability theory, stochastic theory, etc. We assume the individual would have all of the usual requirements of job
searches of written and oral English skills, experience with diverse students, previous experience in teaching university level courses, etc. We would prefer an individual with an active area of scholarly research they plan to pursue.
The salary is not at the level of a beginning probationary Assistant Professor position but is negotiable.
If you know of anyone who might be interested in this position or would like to know more about this opening, please contact or have interested individuals contact
