The Great Jelly Bean Counting Contest - We Have a Winner!
One of the many highlights of last month's SFU Surrey Open House was the jelly bean contest put on by Computing Science. In a variation of the old "how many jelly beans are in the jar?" contest, participants had to guess how many colours were present in a digital photo of jelly beans.

The winner was Thomas Williams, a grade 12 student from Frank Hurt Secondary School. His guess was 300,000 and the correct answer was 188,924, a difference of 111,076. Thomas won a USB flash drive for his colour-counting skills. Congratulations Thomas!
