Wesla is a meteorologist and writer based in Kelowna, BC. She owns and operates a private forecasting service with her husband, a fellow meteorologist. When not looking at the radar, satellite, or weather charts, she can be found enjoying the outdoors.
Q: How have you had to adapt your work life? What has been easy/hard?
A: Work life has gone through a few changes with the majority of our forecasting and writing contracts being tourism-based. However, we have been able to continue to do what we can from home thanks to computers and technology.
Q: How have you had to adapt your home life? What has been easy/hard?
A: Being a parent of a one-year-old during COVID means your life doesn’t change all that much. We are already pretty socially isolated anyways—no late nights, and no sleeping in! Throw in the fact that I'm 20 weeks pregnant, so my "drinking on a patio” life has not been affected! ;P
Q: What are you doing for fun?
A: Luckily we live in an area where we have been able to continue to enjoy the outdoors!
Q: Advice for current SFU students during this time of physical distancing?
A: My advice to fellow alumni and current students: Every storm is followed by a rainbow—stay positive and get ready to collect the lucky charms coming your way soon.
