Calendar systems - B.C./A.D.
A.D.  or Anno Domini is Latin for "The Year of the Lord".
If anyone tells you it means "After Death",
THEY ARE WRONG!!

Hey, if B.C. means 'Before Christ',
and A.D. meant 'After Death',
it would mean after Christ's death,
RIGHT?
Tradition has it that Christ lived for 33 years.
So - if 1 B.C. is the year before Christ's birth,
and
1 A.D. is the year after Christ's death -
SO, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 35 YEARS
IN BETWEEN???

OK, if we've got that one sorted out, try this one:

IS THERE A YEAR 0?

Hey, you're the archaeological detective - you find out!!

Trivia Fact:
The system of numbering years A.D. (for "Anno Domini", "in the year of Our Lord") began in the year 525.  The first person to do this was the Roman abbot Dionysus Exiguus.
