JAIL HOUSE????

The structure shown above is thought to be a jail. This suggestion stems from the obscured positioning of the secret room at the site, and the presence of stone holders in the walls that may indicate prisoners being tied up. The Inkas were an empire bent on conquering the Andes, and assuredly they did gather political prisoners, as well as prisoners from with in the empire. However, it is also conceivable that this was a secret room used for ritual purposes. Its mystery remains to be discovered.

The rocky outcrop shown here is from above the "jail". Natural bedrock outcrops are incorporated into Inka architecture and trimmed to form. This particular outcrop forms a round walled building.
