Make a list of the different kinds of boxes made and used by the First Nations of the Northwest Coast.
What would each type have been used for? How do the construction details of each type fit the box function?

Make a list of the different kinds of boxes you use. Which ones could you make for yourself? What is each used for?

Do you have 'special purpose boxes' like the people of the Northwest Coast? Think of a special purpose box that you would like to have. An example of a special purpose box is a box drum.

Make your box with a lid. You can use paper, rigid plastic, cardboard, wood or another material.
If you bend your materials rather than cutting them, they will be more like Northwest Coast boxes.
